Seats and how billing follows your team

Who counts as a seat, the three-seat minimum, and how your bill follows your team.

Practice and Firm are priced per seat. Your bill follows the people on your team, so you never have to change it yourself.

Who is a seat

  • A seat is an active owner, admin or engineer.

  • Read-only members are free. They never count as a seat.

  • Someone you invite counts from the moment you send the invitation.

The three-seat minimum

Paid plans bill at least three seats. With fewer than three people, you pay for three. Billing shows this as, for example, “1 member (3 seat minimum)”.

Above three, you pay for each seat. Four seats on Practice is 4 × $45, which is $180 a month.

When your team changes

Debut updates your seats when you invite someone, remove someone, change a role, deactivate someone or reactivate them.

  • On a paid plan, the next invoice changes with it, prorated.

  • During a trial, nothing is prorated. The new count is what you are billed when the trial ends.

Making an engineer read-only frees a seat. Making a read-only member an engineer adds one.

Free plan limits

Free does not bill seats. It allows 3 members in total, read-only members included. To add a fourth person, move to Practice or Firm.

Nothing on a paid plan caps your team. Invite as many people as you need, and the bill counts them.
