Most problems in Debut show as a short message. This guide covers the ones that are not about a specific feature.
"The connection dropped before the server answered"
The full message is "The connection dropped before the server answered, so this may or may not have gone through. Check before trying again."
Your browser sent the form, but no answer came back. The network may have dropped, or the page may have been left open while the computer slept. Debut cannot tell whether your change was saved.
Look at the page. Check whether your change is there.
Refresh the page if you are not sure.
Only try again if the change is missing. This avoids doing the same thing twice, such as sending an email twice.
"Something went wrong"
The page says "Something went wrong at our end. Nothing was changed." Debut hit an error and saved nothing.
Refresh the page and try again.
If it happens again, contact BaselineZero support. Say what you were doing and when.
"That request could not be verified. Please try again."
Debut could not confirm the form came from your open page. This can happen after you cleared cookies, or when the browser was restarted with the page still open. It also shows when your role does not allow the action.
Refresh the page and try again. If it still appears, ask an owner or admin whether your role can do this.
"This link or session is no longer valid."
You were signed out, or the link you used has expired. An hour without activity signs you out, and a session ends 12 hours after you sign in. Sign in again. When you open a page while signed out, Debut takes you to the sign-in page and brings you back afterwards.
"That page does not exist."
The address is wrong, or the item was deleted. Some pages are only for owners and admins, and they show this message to everyone else.
A warning at the top of the page
When a form fails, Debut reloads the page you were on and puts the reason at the top. Read it and follow what it says. If it says "The server answered" and a number, refresh and try again.
When to contact BaselineZero support
"Something went wrong" keeps coming back for the same action.
A message says the problem is on our side.
Sending is paused for your workspace.
The owner needs an authenticator reset.
Say what you were doing, the exact message, and the time it happened.
Refresh before you try again. The page then shows what was really saved.
